FAQs

What is hypnosis?
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and you are in control at all times. Hypnosis is a natural, yet altered, state of the mind marked by a high degree of suggestibility where communication with the subconscious mind is present. During hypnosis, you are relaxed, receptive and responsive. You are fully aware of what is happening, are extremely alert, and will remember the whole session.
Does hypnosis use the conscious mind or the subconscious mind?
Some people mistakenly assume that the hypnotic state is an unconscious one, similar to being asleep or under anesthesia. This is not true. We are always conscious in hypnosis, but the subconscious mind can be reached so that positive suggestions are given to bring about changes that you want to make. In fact, the subconscious makes up 90% of the mind, serving as long-term memory bank, controlling and regulating the involuntary functions of the body, acting as the seat of our emotions and the seat of our imagination, carrying out our habitual conduct, and as the dynamo that directs our energy.
What can hypnosis help you accomplish?
Anything the mind affects can be helped with hypnosis through a qualified, certified professional. This includes a long list of issues from weight control to stress management, fear of flying, stopping smoking, hypnosis for vaping, gambling problems, building self-confidence, sleep issues, enhancing sports performance, lowering blood pressure, stopping addictions, emotional difficulties, enhancing study and exam performance, pain management, present and past-life regression, and much, much more.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes, anyone can be hypnotized, if they so desire, as it is a natural occurring state.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes, as stated above, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and you are always in control, so it’s totally safe. It’s a way to release the natural, self-healing forces deep within you.
Will the hypnotist control me?
No, hypnosis will not change the way you are, alter your personality, or go against your moral principals. In fact, you can never be hypnotized to do something against your will and nothing will come up that you’re not ready to address. Hypnotherapy or clinical hypnosis is provided by qualified, certified professionals like Hillary Evans, working with people who want to succeed in breaking habits, overcoming their fears, etc.
Is it true that may of us are hypnotized several times a day?
Yes, when we watch TV, read, or daydream, our attention is being engaged and our consciousness is in the story, not the physical place where we are sitting. This results in a shift in our state of consciousness; similar to the one we reach in hypnotherapy sessions.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Many clients tell Hillary that hypnosis feels like a daydream. You can hear her speaking to you and you can answer questions and engage. But you’re in an extremely relaxed state of mind, often accompanied by a guided visualization.
Can hypnosis provide an “instant” success?
Yes and no. Sometimes, your subconscious mind does not always give in without a struggle. You may have been trying to fix or overcome this problem for weeks, months, and sometimes years, so it can take several sessions to provide success.
What is the minimum number of hypnosis sessions I’ll need?
Hillary Evans knows that every client and issue is different. A client may only need one session to resolve any concerns or issues you may have. However, the average client may need 5 or more sessions in total. As a hypnotherapist, it is Hillary’s job to become obsolete in the lives of her clients.
