Your Personal Best: Hypnosis for Performance

If you’re a fitness enthusiast, you know that you eventually reach a point where your workout is easy and you have to move up to the next level. Each time, the next level is more difficult and reaching it is euphoric, even if it takes more and more work to get there. What happens, though, when you lose your edge? When it feels like it’s just too much to keep on climbing? Then you need a little support, a catalyst, and chances are you already have it hidden away in your mind. A hypnotherapist might be able to help you access the tools that you need to hike up to the next peak, run that extra mile, beat your best time at the swimming pool, or any other fitness goals that you hope to achieve.

Hypnosis Is NOT Cheating

When you call on the skills of a hypnotherapist, you are not asking them to magically alter your performance. Sports hypnosis is about utilizing skills that you already possess but are having trouble accessing. The reason that you can’t get to that next level could be emotional, or it could be something you’d never expect. The fact is, you already have all the answers in your subconscious and a hypnotherapist can help you find them.

Reach Your Personal Best!

  1. Make clear decisions about your goals…and be realistic.

If your personal best running distance is three miles, it’s not exactly realistic to try to reach ten miles by the end of the week. You’ll be setting yourself up for failure that way. Set goals that you know will make you feel good. In the example above, maybe try to increase your mileage by two instead of seven. You can work up to bigger goals later.

  1. Map your progress.

Work with your hypnotherapist to keep a record of the progress you’re making in your performance. Try a small notebook that you can keep right in your gym bag or purse. Perhaps you want a better visual aid and you can make a poster of your project with a chart and bright colors to mark your milestones.

  1. Try new things.

Hypnosis for performance doesn’t have to be limited to one discipline. If your current workout is beginning to bore you, then try something new. Your hypnotherapist can help you find the support and tools that you need to excel at your new endeavor. A new class or something that you’ve always found exciting but never thought you could do might actually be just what you’re looking for.

Whatever decisions you make about your fitness goals or trying something new, it has to be about you. Don’t try something only because a friend is doing it or because you heard it’s the next fad. Think carefully about what you want for yourself and what you hope to achieve. You already have everything that you need to get to the next level. Let your hypnotherapist help you find it and utilize it so that you can be your absolute best.
